Jay lives by the beach in
Tasmania with his litter brother Luke and his human brother
Jake. He is much loved by his owners Mark and Jenny. We spent
some time researching the breed. We wanted a big gundog (as I
had owned and showed English setters when I was a teenager)
but a short coat for the beach. We spent many weekends
visiting Jay when he was a pup. My grandfather suggested we
pick a dog with spunk and we certainly got that. Even Maree
refers to Jay as our ‘naughty child’. Jay is a very striking
dog just like his father was, hence his pedigree name
“Trupoint Like Jimmy Dean”.
Jay enjoys daily walks to the
beach and the occasional 15 hour run when he leads Luke
astray. Jay loves running into the fresh cool air but also
loves sitting as close as he can to the wood heater (he would
curl up on one of the logs in the fire given half a chance).
Jay is obsessed with food and is
often found lying in the pantry waiting for his biscuits. Jay
works for his biscuits by collecting the paper each morning.
Jay has even been caught sneaking biscuits however we find it
most amusing that he also gives a biscuit to Luke.
Jay loves traveling in the car
which seems to be a family trait. He always jumps into the
driver’s seat as soon as he gets in the car. One day we were
in the video store for too long and we found Jay in the
driver’s seat beeping the horn!
Jay has always been an
affectionate lap dog who would get inside you skin if he could
(but settles for getting under the doona at any opportunity).
Jay now has to put up with someone always jumping on his lap,
our son Jake! Jay enjoys the love and attention he receives
from our son and is amazingly placid with him and other
children.
Jay and Jake are like
brothers - they fight
over things like who is going to be
on the lounge - they
push each other off! |
